Acrylic paint can be used on most any surface!
I have found over the years that most any surface can be painted on using acrylics. There are enhancers for the craft paints that allow use on fabric, use as a stain, and use on glass. An acrylic sealer is a must after the items are fully dried. * Wood - soft woods require more coats for full coverage, usually 2-3. Pine needs 1-2 depending on the color and how thick you put it on. I have done beads, boxes, plaques, dresser murals... * Glass - marbles, shotglasses, candle holders, plates, and flat pieces. The sealer will haze the unpainted areas so be sure to use medium enhancers and any glass paint sealer available if you don't want that to happen. * Polymer clay - after it's hardened and glazed, otherwise the glaze tends to reactivate the paint and can cause problems. A sealer isn't always needed if it's a small painted area. * Plastic - I've done masks using a plain white plastic base I could get in bulk and then painting and sealing before adding embellishments to offer a variety of colors and even designs and animal prints. * Canvas - I have completed 2 original paintings. The canvas must be stretched and primed (or be ready to use canvas boards). There are special painting sealers to protect the work of art. * Paper - there are pads of thick painting paper available at craft stores, I made a paper wand out of ordinary rolled printer paper (20#). 110# cardstock is also decent for acrylics. 65# may work too, though it doesn't handle watercolors well. * Car interior - I have used acrylics to mix a color match and then added fabric medium to cover cigarette burn marks. Painting on anything that won't be washed is safe, but there is some research and practice to painting clothing that will last. * Metal - old cans look better for storing pencils, crayons, or paintbrushes if spruced up with paint first! Decorating bottlecaps are also a creative way to recycle to make pendants, magnets, collages. I have included examples of my own work. |

I have used acrylic paint on gym floor lines but more often it is oil based paint.
